— Health from a biblical perspective —

Dear Health-seeker,

Is there any health issue more worked over than weight control?  The subject appears on practically every magazine cover because it’s a national epidemic; also a big money maker.  Opportunists exploit it to sell pills, potions, diets and formulas.

You no doubt realize there’s no really healthy way to control weight by pills and diets.  Both are things one gets on and off of! But, if you can work your way through the maze of money-making quick-fixes, there’s plenty of hope.  Many have found verse 29 in chapter one of the Bible’s book of Genesis to be a springboard to normal weight and robust health.  It doesn’t require meds or their close cousins: processed vitamin/mineral supplements (protein drinks either).

We pray this will both encourage and help you in a practical way.

Losing Weight

... and keeping it lost!

We offer no magic cures, quick-fixes or “New!” diets, just sound counsel that, when applied, works for nearly everyone.1  Two of the reasons it’s so broadly effective are (1) it’s not symptom-based and, (2) it’s sound, Bible-based counsel.  Interested?

Overweight and obesity in America have gone from being sporadic, to a true national epidemic.  According to a December 2002 CDC report (Center for Disease Control), nearly two-thirds of our population are now overweight, with 21% being obese.  A 1/24/03 ABC-TV “20/20” report noted that child obesity jumped 50% in just 10 years.  An NBC-TV piece of 5/22/02 pegged overweight health costs at $117 billion a year and noted the problem has spawned a $100 billion weight-loss industry.

What’s Causing It?

As with solving any problem it’s helpful to know its causes.  At the risk of illiciting a “duh!” — the major (but not only) cause of most weight problems is an improper diet.  Though its cause is fundamentally simple, it’s not quite so basic as, too much of one thing or another.  It can be better likened to having driving problems because of being taught from a terrorist-written manual.  Most people have health-hazardous lifestyle and eating habits because of improper training.  Not to suggest this has come about through maliciousness; more likely family or ethnic tradition and well-intended (but faulty) eating ideas. Several common dietary habits have conclusively been shown to cause obesity, plus almost all sickness and disease.  The good news is, they can gradually be replaced with healthier ones through education and diligence.  Health can go markedly up as the extra pounds come down.

Where is the proof to support such a sweeping claim?  In the pudding!  Numerous peer-reviewed studies could be paraded but there’s nothing more convincing than results.  The combined number of clients of this ministry’s networked professionals easily exceeds one-million.  Each of these practitioners demonstrate that when hazardous health habits are replaced with sound ones, health improves and weight comes off.  Moreover, their approach is not symptom or weight-based — but health-focused.  The undeniable truth is that when sound dietary and lifestyle habits are practiced, good health and proper weight ensues; they’re inseparable.  We urge you to follow-up a reading of this article by studying the referenced materials and their bibliographies.

Health-Hazardous Habits

The most common “pothole” in the road to health and ideal weight is the consumption of substances that simply should not go into the body. Breezing past the non-foods of alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, refined sugar, soft drinks, most drugs and meds — we target processed, pasteurized, fractionalized, and pseudo-foods.  These are represented to be good for you, but in fact, diminish vitality and increase weight.  They include white flour and all its by-products, some grains, most animal products, condiments, store bought dressings, desserts and enzymeless foods.  Also to be avoided — too much of any kind of protein.2

Hang on now! When we finish there’ll still be plenty of really delicious foods to more than satisfy.  I told you this involves change and it’s something  you can do — honestly.  But let’s be clear about one thing: you’re going to have to choose. You’ll have to decide what’s more important to you and loved ones — health and normal weight, or disease and fat. (I did it!  I used the “F” word.)

Pothole #2 is the habit of feeding our tummies instead of the whole body.  We tend to make dietary choices based on our senses rather than on good health sense.  If it looks, smells or tastes good — we go for it.  (Could I sermonize that one!) This results in always going from hungry-to-full, hungry-full, hungry-full — yet never really satisfied.    Foods appealing to our senses often do little to satisfy the 100 trillion cells that make up our body.  Those micro bio-furnaces have been designed to burn a very specific kind of fuel (food) to maintain health and weight but they typically don’t get it.  Though regularly filling our tummies, trillions of living cells are starving to death.  In truth, they are suffering from mal-nutrition!

THE Weight Connection

How does all this add more weight when “starving” cells suggest less?  The most basic reason is that poorly nourished cells cannot generate the energy needed by the body to perform all the chores required to keep it healthy and trim.  In addition to the energy needed to simply live and to perform daily activities, it’s also needed to cleanse and repair the body’s myriad systems.  It takes some 80% of all our energy just to digest a meal!  If there’s not enough left over to purge toxic debris — it doesn’t get done. If there’s not enough energy to perform cellular repairs, cells continue to degrade, like teeth without dental care.  It’s akin to stashing household trash into closets.  Eventually, the body’s “closets” get filled with waste (bio-cesspools) adding pounds of toxins and big opportunity for cysts, tumors and all manner of disease.3

This same nutrient-deficient diet is notably lacking in fiber — the reason 70% of Americans need laxatives.  A poorly functioning bowel can store 20 pounds of putrefying fecal matter.  Its seething toxins can then infect the whole system with pathogens (auto-toxicity) further sapping energy and inviting a host of ailments.3

This SAD (Standard American Diet) is also highly acidic — the opposite of what a healthy cell-menu calls for. This diet does cause a loss, the loss of bone density as its minerals race out to alkalize the steady onslaught of acids dumped into the body by coffee, soft drinks, animal products, etc.  This is a primary reason why osteoporosis is rampant.  The list goes on — but you get the idea.

Three things to do

1. Start accepting the fact that, unless you have an unusual physical condition, you can change — if you truly want to.  Start making healthier dietary choices based on cellular needs — not necessarily on what appeals to the senses.   Start eating more whole, fresh, ripe, raw, organic vegetables and fruits.  Start supplementing your diet with nutrient-dense, fresh vegetable juices and green drinks.  Start flushing your body with 2-3 quarts of distilled or “RO” water/day.  Start getting 10-15 minutes of  daily sunshine on as much of your body as possible.  Start getting 7-8 hours of sleep a night.  Start a stretching/toning program leading to one designed to build muscle.3

2. Stop putting into your body those things which reduce health.2    That includes phasing out as many drugs and meds as possible; be sure to work with a health professional (be careful; there’s a vast difference in specialized knowledge required to improve health, compared to that needed to merely manage disease). Stop as much stress in your life as possible (anxiety, noise, pollution, etc). Stop cooking all your food; increasingly eat more of it raw (write for recipes).  Stop being concerned about your weight.  Focus on health!

3. Study selective diet and health materials; Roadrunner has a free resource list. Make a habit of reading something on the subject every day.  In a short time you’ll become much better informed and confident.

There’s hope!

Hundreds of thousands of sick and overweight people who’ve struggled for decades are now victorious.  Many are now off of health-sapping medications that have bound and impoverished them.  You are no different than they.  You too can enjoy better health and your ideal weight ... but you must choose.  Do you have the courage?

— From our readers —

I’m now off all medications, saving me $120/month in insurance payments.  All blood levels, pressure and my thyroid remain excellent.  Oh — I’ve also lost 27 pounds.  All this in only 14 weeks!  Praise the Lord! — Branson, MO

Being a good evangelical health-nut, I’ve given all your books, booklets, brochures and articles away.  Now I can’t locate the name of the green-drink you recommend.  Please help me! — Nanticoke, PA

I have lost 24 pounds; my energy level has increased; fibromyalgia symptoms are gone (taking no medication for the first time in seven years); improved attitude; decreased depression; improved PMS; hiatal hernia symptoms gone; sleep improved; etc. — Ocean City, CA

Love fresh greens!  I like what you said about soil quality.  Last year I let my garden go fallow, now I can’t wait to start “grazing” from it again.  Keep up the wonderful work! — Santa Fe, NM

I think your product (TopGreen™) is great and will do well. — Punta Gorda, FL

I just received your “Health Ministry Income Opportunity” information kit; very interesting!  I’m a firm believer in green-drink supplementation and have been using another barley juice powder for two years.  I like taking the sweet dry powder sub-lingually. — Dillsboro, IN

The two health products you sent have definitely provided a break-through.  The one has especially helped with my cleansing and the “flushing of my pipes”.  I’ve been eating more raw fruits and veggies and using only small amounts of white flour products and sugar.  I’ve also cut meat back to once or twice a week.  I will call or write if I need more help.  Thanks so much! — Kirbyville, MO
