— Health from a biblical perspective —

Dear Health Seeker,

Your letters and questions are always most welcome and receive a thoughtful and personal response.  Please do share your concerns, fears and victories with us.  We sincerely thank you for your responsiveness to our publications, seminars and classes and hope the following will help you better understand the principles we teach.  It’s unwise to change long established habits without first understanding the why-fors and risks.  It’s also advisable to consult a professional before assuming greater responsibility for your health.

The Robust Health Course™ can quickly enhance your grasp of the basics; join a class here in Prescott, or host one in your own town.  Call or write for course details and/or host requirements.  Also, consider adding our other books and publications to your health library.

Questions & Answers

A NJ Christian writes:  Your emphasis should be placed on eternal life rather than trying to lengthen our stay on earth.  No diet can make us live forever!   — CG, Pittstown, NJ

Thank you CG for your incisive observation.  First: our emphasis is on health, not longevity.  Scripture ascribes no virtue to sickness but gives many reasons for believers to be fit soldiers for Jesus.  Sick armies don’t win wars!  It also provides the wisdom needed to maintain or regain God’s gift of good health — if we but access it.  As a result of not doing so, the church’s credibility is strained when, frequently, leaders offering healing prayers are as sick and overweight as those for whom they pray.  Second:  Roadrunner has been uncomfortably thrust into the company of ministries being raised up to teach biblical health wisdom; thus assuming God is concerned about the health condition of many believers.  Assuredly, were this not true, we would be the first to exit!  In fewest words, we teach both in obedience to His calling and our love for the church.  Lastly: Roadrunner’s primary focus remains on doctrinal, evangelistic and eternal issues rather than temporal concerns.

A letter from Arizona reads:  I’m tired of so many health articles; we need to trust the Lord!  Health is an issue for me right now, but I’m trusting God through His Scripture.  By His stripes we are healed!  — JN, Phoenix, AZ

Wow!  What a wonderfully strong statement of faith in the power of God and the integrity of His Word.  Thanks JN, we understand and agree.  Your concern likely echoes sentiments of other Bible-believing readers.  What most believers do not realize is that the Bible provides two harmonious approaches to health and healing: supernatural and natural; both from God.  Petitioning for divine intervention in a health crisis is biblical ... but so is applying the Bible’s natural health wisdom to prevent, or even remedy the problem.  We’ve simply pulled-out and present that counsel in a manner applicable to today’s techno-world.  Make sense?

From an Indiana reader:  We do not go for your health teaching.  We hear much of the same from sources we do not trust ...”    — DS, Goshen, IN

Bingo!  We too were nearly deterred by the confusing glut of conflicting information from questionable sources.  However, there’s good reason to have even more confidence in our counsel because it is based on the most authoritative source, the Bible; a resource the “credentialed” generally disdain and/or discount.  We address diet and healthy lifestyle issues more authoritatively than most M.D.s because our speciality is fostering health, a wholly different field than symptom-suppression and disease management.  Moreover, the experts we draw from are as qualified in the field of health, as medical doctors are in their preoccupation with sickness and disease.  Many are professionally credentialed (M.D., C.D., N.D., researchers, Phd., etc.).  Roadrunner is thus a conduit providing valid, tested and helpful information.  We offer a low-cost, Bible-based approach to health rather than an expensive way to remain sick.  If more reasons are needed, ask the hundreds of thousands of healthier “patients” now living vital lives; medicine, sickness and disease-free.

A man from NM writes:   There isn’t a young person alive who cares about eating right, unless they’re in training, so your audience is an older one, or those who’re sick.  —  RM, Albuquerque, NM

Right on, RM!  The young and (seemingly) healthy aren’t interested but — does that mean we should not try to educate them?  Put another way; isn’t that the very reason we should all reach out to them with the message of temporal (& eternal) health?  The meat, dairy, egg, grain, fast and factory-food people have done a number on mis-educating them.  Those with more nutritional insight can help; what do you think?

From Florida: I’ve been concerned about your fruit and veggie diet.  I lost weight, which was good, but then had difficulty stopping the loss.  I found out that on less than 100 gr. of carbohydrates, the body can start feeding on itself, causing weakened bones, etc.  — SD, Sarasota, FL

Thanks for sharing your concerns.  Without a doubt, many would-be healthier people falter on such issues.  You were on the right track but (assuming you reverted) it appears you’ve snatched failure right out of the jaws of success.  We pray the following will shed more light and encourage you to move forward with your health.

First: we do not espouse a “fruit and veggie” diet, or a “diet”, per se, but a plant-based approach to nutrition, using a wide variety of fresh, whole, ripe, raw, fruits and veggies — along with certain seeds, nuts, grains, berries and live juices.  It’s also imperative to understand terms; ie: “fruit” is defined as that produce with internal seeds.  In addition to the dozen or so familiar sweet fruits, this includes avocado, carambola, cucumber, durian, pepper, squash, tomato, etc.

Second: A sustained healthy diet will cause the body to “detoxify”, a process generally requiring many months before the body purges all its 100 trillion living cells of decades of accumulated toxic debris.  Initial colon cleansing and excess water dumping will cause the rapid loss of many pounds but it takes longer for this metabolic “house-cleaning” to be completed.  The body will then stabilize at its ideal weight.  What remains is the real you; albeit leaner, cleaner and vastly healthier.

The body requires a high energy diet to support this process and it must be done correctly and fostered until the body’s completed its work.  Risk is always a factor when making such a change therefore wisdom suggests engaging a professional and/or becoming health literate enough to safely assume the responsibility.  Detoxified persons often report that most, if not all sickness symptoms fall away with the unhealthy pounds.  The only way to gain healthy weight is with healthy protein, carbs and muscle-building exercise.

Third:  weak bones, sickness and disease are not caused by a sound plant-based diet but mostly from years of mal-nutrition on the S.A.D. (Standard American Diet).  In fact, reliable studies prove that the surest route to osteoporosis is to consume more meat, egg, dairy, grains, etc. Grains too?!  Right; there’s little room in a healthy diet for cooked grains.  They produce more acidity,  plus 1 out of 3 Americans are gluten sensitive, leading to a host of health issues, notably, celiac disease.  (Read Roadrunner’s Gluten Gluttony then meditate Paul’s words in 1Cor 6:12.)

A common question.  How about those who’ve failed to improve their health, even damaged it, using some of the same ideas you espouse? Answer: one cannot gauge their own chances for success solely on the experiences of others; especially on those who fail.  Who knows to what degree they’ve understood and applied wise counsel, and how about their bio-chemical individuality?

Food supplements? As a rule, we discourage their use. Most aren’t “food” or health supportive; merely another example of enzymatically dead, processed substances, misleadingly labeled as food — some even being coal-tar derived.  Many are unnecessarily stimulative and potentially toxic.  Real food is a better investment, in spite of soil depletion, etc.

Closing thought.  All have a portion of the truth but only applied knowledge changes lives.  Many claiming to “know” the things we teach, are still sickly — a reminder that the goal isn’t knowledge, but health.   Wisdom suggests that if any health prattler, promulgator or profiteer does not demonstrate superior health, the merit of their counsel should rightfully be challenged.

— Transition Talk —

To successfully transition to a healthier lifestyle is really as simply as A-B-C. We must first Acquire and  assimilate pertinent information.  It’s then necessary to actively  Believe that guiding data.  The final imperative is to Commit to those sounder health principles — putting aside the myriad, ill-advised and often profit-motivated ideas that have disappointed, impoverished  and injured multitudes for decades.

The chances of a the average person successfully transitioning to a really healthy diet without help, is small.  Error, tradition and emotional issues all need to be addressed to assure success.  A major challenge facing a would-be healthy lifestyle “convert” is the massive mis-information we’re all bombarded with, plus long-held erroneous dietary ideas.  It’s one thing to change; quite another to sustain.  That requires savvy.

Some of what we teach sounds like it’s “off the wall” because it flies in the face of long-held (nonetheless, incorrect) dietary ideas.  Before tuning us out, we entreat you to look at the results of those who follow the approach we recommend — versus those subscribing to the S.A.D. and the allopathic sham of attempting to poison the body back to health.

You’ll learn much more from our books, newsletters, seminars and classes.  We encourage you to avail yourself of these life-changing resources.  Keep on keeping-on and thanks for writing.
