The Real Christmas Story

Tony's letter to a child

Dear one,

did you know that God loves His Son, Jesus, more than any parent loves their own child?  Yet, He sent Him from heaven to earth to die. Why?  So that you and all His beloved people could be forgiven of sin and freed from the control of God’s enemy, Satan — the Devil.

On the first Christmas, God’s Spirit birthed baby Jesus into the world, not to fill our stockings for a day, but to fill us with life forever.  God didn’t send a Santa, little one — He gave us a Saviour.  Jesus later proved it by dying on the cross to pay for our sins.  He died for US: you, me and the whole world.  Days later on that first Easter, God brought Jesus back to life and then back to heaven to prepare a home for us (that’s where Christians go after dying, or if Jesus comes for us before then).  Meanwhile, He sent the Holy Spirit to help Christians follow Him; to become His “disciples”.  This will be easier to understand if someone reads pages 14 and 15 to you.  All this is explained there and just where to find it in God’s Word, the Bible.

Sweet child, please hear this with all the love God has for you, and ask Him to help you understand:  You see, Jesus is no longer a baby — and certainly not Santa!  He’s now fully grown into a God-Man and faithful friend who lives with His loving Father in heaven.  Soon He’ll return to take Christians to their wonderful home there.  Dear child, you must understand this: not everyone will go.  Not even everybody who goes to church or who say they’re “Christian” will go.  Only those who believe in Jesus and accept Him as their own Saviour and Lord.  All unbelievers will be left behind with Santa Claus’s god — Satan. THEIR “forever” home will be a horrible Lake of Fire.  Oh, I so hope you’ll choose to come with us instead!

Although God loves sinners, the Bible says sin is not allowed in heaven.  It also says that all of us have sinned — so nobody can go.  But there’s Good News!  God sent Jesus to “save” us.  When we ask Him to forgive us and to come live in our heart, He erases our sins so we can go with all God’s people.  Little one, God loves YOU so much!  Now, this is the most important thing I have to tell you:  If you haven’t accepted Jesus yet, you really need to do it — today.  “Tomorrow” may be too late.
