A Relationship with God
through Jesus Christ
• Peace with God • Salvation of your soul • Eternal security
• Freedom from guilt • Hope for the future • A new life and family
• Purpose • Joy ... and much more!
The problem
Impeded by sin: Nobody has a relationship with God simply by having Christian parents or through church membership. All are born with a sin nature and alienated from God. To have a relationship with Him, our sin must first be dealt with. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
God loves sinners but hates sin: Sin’s penalty is a conscious eternity spent in a lake of fire, separated from an absolutely holy God. “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we yet sinners, Christ died for us. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (Rom 5:8; John 3:16).
The solution
We must be re-born: “Ye must be born again ... born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 3:7; 1:13; 3:3). This is not “turning over a new leaf”, resolving to live a good life or conforming to a religion or denomination. It is receiving God’s free gift of forgiveness for sin, offered by His grace (unmerited favor) and accepted by faith in Jesus Christ. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).
First: To have a relationship with God, we must understand and admit we are sinners, unable to save ourselves. We must believe that Jesus is the Son of God who suffered and died for our sins and rose again from the dead, bodily.
Next: It’s not enough to merely believe Jesus can save you. We must ask Him to forgive our sins, accept Him as the Lord of our life and be willing to turn from our sinful ways. That means yielding our will to His and becoming obedient to Him as set forth in the Bible. Our part of the new birth miracle will then be complete. “As many as received Him (Jesus), to them gave He the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believed on His name” (Jn 1:12).
Finally: By receiving Jesus as Savior and Lord, God works His miracle in you by forgiving your sins and giving you His Spirit and nature. You become a “born-again” believer with eternal life. You have a new relationship with God as your heavenly Father and with other Christians as brothers and sisters. Your soul is then eternally secure. “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand” (John 10:28).
Establish your relationship now!
Pray: Tell God of your new belief in Jesus as Savior and Lord and ask Him to forgive you. Thank Him for His provision to save you from the certain death-penalty for sin. Ask Him to grant you eternal life in heaven with Him. Will you please pray from your heart — right now? Tomorrow may be too late!
Sample prayer: Dear God, I realize I’m a sinner in need of a Savior and want to be born-again. I also believe Jesus died for my sins and trust Him to save me and become my Lord. Please forgive my sins and grant me eternal life with you. I accept your Word by faith and thank You Father for saving and helping me live upright in your sight. Amen. “Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that heareth My word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come to condemnation; but is passed from death unto life” (Jn 5:24).
Your new relationship and new life
You are born-again! If you’ve done the above, God’s Word says you are now a born-again child of His kingdom, indwelt and sealed by His Holy Spirit (Eph 1:13). You are a (baby) Christian and your soul’s destiny is secure for all eternity. It’s very important for you to be knit into a Bible-centered, Jesus-focused church to disciple you. We’ll be glad to send printed material to guide and encourage you in your new life. We are part of your family in Christ, concerned with your spiritual well-being and handle all inquiries with loving confidentiality.
