The BEST of Times

Although the lives of those our age will have been book-ended by economic depressions, the interim years have been some of the best this planet has known.  Progress in agriculture, medicine, communications, transportation, manufacturing, science and technology in general, have vastly raised the standard of living.  Other than Israel’s prosperity under Davidic and Solomonic rule, that which has been achieved on such a wide scale by western cultures since the 1900s, is stunning.  Especially true as pertains to the British Empire and United States of America (prophetically significant of itself).

From a material and overall standpoint, westerners of the last and current century, have been the richest people in all history.  So much so, the majority of the last three generations in America really do not know what it is to do without; certainly not without life’s basics.  Indeed, many cannot even distinguish between needs and wants.  Most grow up nowadays with their own bedroom, fancy footwear, all the food and clothing desired, music and/or dance instruction, sports, cell-phone, TV, computer, bike, education, car, pocket money, credit cards and all the other perks of the (formerly) wealthiest nation in the world.

A downside has been the usual moral and societal decline attendant prosperity.  The “eat, drink and be merry” failure mode of all such societies has been further debauched by today's deficit living.  Not to paint too broadly, but it can be fairly said that recent generations have spared little to satisfy their desires.  Nary a moral, family, national or godly value has been withheld from sacrifice on the altar of immediate material or sensory satisfaction ... even God Himself.  In fact, every vestige of Him is being systematically purged from our midst.  Obviously, this is at odds with Father God's will for His beloved creation (1Pet 1:15-21; Gal 5:16,22-24; Eph 1:3,4; etc.).  However, all will soon change ... and suddenly.

Good news!  Just peeking over the horizon, is an age of unprecedented societal righteousness and prosperity.  A time when there’ll be no more striving or stealing.  A period of divine rule when war, crime and even evil itself, will no longer exist in its midst.  The Bible refers to it as "Christ’s millennial reign" (Rev 20).  Unquestionably, it will be the BEST of times and its entrance ticket is a pre-registered, born-again birth certificate. We pray that ALL will become its residents ... especially our loved ones (Jn 3:16,17; 1Tim 2:4,5).  Following that  will be EXTRAORDINARY living as followers eternally dwell with Christ in the New Jerusalem (Rev 21).
