Dangerous Times

When granted repentance unto eternal salvation, we’re given the remedy for life’s most deadly downside, our trespasses against God ... SIN.  He forgives them all; past, present and future.  He ushers us into His family of “elect,” places His very Spirit within us, bestows the esteemed name, "Christian" and provides a Bible: the instruction manual for living up to that title and His expectations.  As our adoptive Father, He also gives us a family, training school and elders to facilitate our spiritual growth ... all in the form of Christ’s Church.  Oh, another biggie: prayer; the equivalent of a private hot-line to Himself.

Though equipping us with all needed to live victoriously, our all-wise Father knows we are still vulnerable to spiritual wolves; to being led astray by false teachers.  Also that we are prone to complacently wander off.  He therefore likens us to sheep, susceptible to attack; who drift from scripture or stray from the church and Spirit’s guidance.  All given to safeguard our lives.  Yet, there's another reason so many get mauled.

Sometimes overlooked (or downplayed) is that salvation’s transaction drafts us into God’s army, thrusts us unto the battlefield and right into spiritual combat.  We thus become targets for every wile of our satanic enemy working through varied agencies (witting or not).  Believers skipping Basic Training are dangerously unprepared; the reason scripture adjures: “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Eph 6:10-12).

The world is increasingly hostile to all that’s of God, and with Christ’s return drawing near, the enemy is lambasting the church from every quarter ... largely from within.  The greater threats now emanate from some of its luminaries (only God knows their hearts).  As a global religion slithers under the radar, "leaders" duped into satanic complicity, herd us into one movement or another; incremental to Rome's in-gathering.  We must become wise as serpents and diligent as Bereans.  Though the straight way is less traveled, its shoulders are narrow and ditches gaping.  If God is your “co-pilot,” please ... switch seats and pray.
