Dining out
Would you dine at a beautiful restaurant having a friendly staff, entertainment, low prices and food containing only 1% deadly poison? Probably not. Would you take your family to a beautiful church building offering friendly greeters, entertainment, comfy seats, worthy activity and only 1% spiritual poison; one that hosts and/or promotes false teachers or doctrines? Did you know MOST believers do so every Sunday?
Curiously, when it comes to protecting our physical health, most are fastidious. We would never knowingly risk our life or those of loved ones for a feel-good, discount meal in pleasant surroundings. Why then do you suppose we put our spiritual health at risk by attending meetings where poisonous fare is served ... if only on occasion?
“But, we’re supposed to gather on Sunday.” Sorry; that prevalent notion fails for a lack of scriptural support. If we invoke Hebrews 10:25: "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together" ... we would have another issue because scripture repeatedly warns God’s own to flee from false teaching. If we rationalize: “OK, so my church isn’t perfect, but it’s better than most; besides, I love the pastor and my friends there,” we will have advertised the give-away symptom of spiritual poisoning: justified compromise "... a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump" (1Cor 5:6).
Please hear our hearts on this. We are not advocating believers cease gathering as per Acts 2:42, etc. — but scripture details the doctrine of separation in the starkest, most direct and easily understood terms. It commands Christians to come out from all things corrupted by Babylon’s worldly ways. This includes religious corporations purporting to serve God’s purposes, but dance to the music of church growth, being more relevant, seeker sensitive, ecumenical, etc. That’s His will.
Through literal tears and earnest prayers, we sadly suggest that, in many instances, a family’s spiritual well-being is better served by gathering at the kitchen table over an open Bible. Please consider Jn 10:3; Acts 2:42; Rom 16:17,18; 1Cor 5:11; 2Tim 2:20, 3:5; Heb 13:13; Rev 18:4; etc. "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come" — 2Ti 3:1.
