Let us give thanks
We serve a loving, good and gracious God Who’s extraordinarily benevolent, patient and merciful to each of us and to our nation. Not that we are special, for you well know, these divine blessings are but attributes of His nature. We are fortunate to have been born into a nation founded upon godly principles and by divinely ordained men. Consider what Columbus had to say about his voyage leading to this nation’s founding: “All who heard of my project rejected it with laughter, ridiculing me. There is no question that the inspiration was from the Holy Spirit because He comforted me with rays of marvelous inspiration from the Holy Scriptures.” Consider our good fortune to have had godly leaders, such as Lincoln, who looked to God for guidance and who unabashedly called this nation to fast and pray. This country’s founding faith is even advertised on its coinage: “In God we trust.”
Consider also how far we have backslidden from our heritage. Even since 1963 ... when we began murdering our unborn and leaders; when an entire generation rejected the mores of our society in favor of irresponsible living, “free love” and marijuana. Consider how respected the Church once was when MEN of God fearfully thundered forth His claims upon man. Whereas today, many plastic pulpits are filled by the self-appointed, spewing a stew of isms and psychology; fools who DARE make demands upon God Almighty and romp where angels fear to tread.
Consideration should also be given to other of God’s attributes: He is holy, righteous, just, and NOT a respecter of persons or pulpits. He even had the aged apostle John pen seven sobering letters (bearing your and my names) to the Church (Rev 2-3). “Church” being comprised of me and you and all the other born-again me’s and you’s. Woe to any of us who hearken not to their warnings! Let’s thank Him for abundant forewarning before a judgment, that once begun (and may already have) will not cease until His righteous demands and justified anger are fully satisfied. At minimum; let us give thanks. Let’s also humble ourselves to repentance and fervently plead for God’s forgiveness and mercy.
