Jesus is Passing By!
Jesus passed by Levi, saying, "follow me" (Mk 2:14). He then passed a man blind from birth and healed him (Jn 9:1). He passed by a woman who’d suffered for 12 years and healed her too (Lk 8:42). After passing by Bartimaeus, Jesus heard him shouting, “Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me!” and granted him sight (Lk 18:37). Then, when an enraged religious mob readied to stone Him, He merely "went through them and passed by" (Jn 8:59). Clothed in humanness, the Son of God ministered on earth for three years; healing, delivering, saving and doing good, then returned to His Father’s side. However, though now unseen, this divine messenger of love, mercy and saving grace is STILL passing by
Your life is also passing. “But I’m only 22; just getting started,” you plead. Ah! But, quick’ern a lizard’s tongue, you’ll be 32, 42; then 52 and 77. You, we and the entire world are in the process of passing away. Everything is disintegrating: houses, cars, clothing and electronics. Even this printed page. Everything (except God’s Word) is returning to dust. Think about it: temporary and temporal are dust to dust matters which do not last; things which Christians should not major in. All are decaying because they are temporal. But Jesus, eternally the same, lives on and is effectually and silently passing by. Right now! (Heb 13:8)The lake of fire will contain countless souls who let Him pass by without crying out for mercy, sin-forgiveness and eternal life (with Him). Assuredly, as our Advocate at the right hand of God, He still hears cries of the spiritually blind, sin-bound, sick, down-trodden and needy. He still sets saves, heals and sets captives free; even restores once zealous, though now back-slidden believers. If these include you, please don’t delay another day. Cry out; repent! Humble yourself before Him Who so loves you.
Many a spiritual life languishes due to burdens, career demands, things to do and places to go. Even the most sincere get caught up in life's busyness, cares and distractions. But be reminded; Jesus is passing by with something vastly better. He is alive, able, ready to save, rescue, restore and meet every need. Dare we ask: are you born-again? Truly? Consider this: today’s passing might mark your last; your final chance. At this very moment, our only Hope is passing by. Call out to Him: “Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me!”
