Who’s your daddy?

Upon returning home from work at a war factory, sinking into a parlor chair and plopping me in her lap, Mom would sometimes ask: “Who’s your mommy?”  Predictably, I pointed an index finger to her breast with, “YOU are!”  In the lean and turbulent, single-parent depression years, “mommy” had been the anchor of we three kid’s lives, and still was.  Our new and barely known step-dad was on his way to Tunisia with the army to confront Nazi Germany’s “Desert Fox” — General Rommel and his fearsome Panzer tanks rumbling across Africa’s northern tier.

In some ways, not much has changed in the intervening 70-plus years: the world is still in chaos; this nation is at war and the Nazi-nurtured, hate-Israel-and-America, Muslim Brotherhood is rumbling across that same, sand-blown expanse. Additionally, this nation again has an FDR-like, elitist, Progressive (Socialist) president. Cell phones, lap-tops, GPS, rockets and A-bombs aside, it seems one of the biggest differences today is that a smaller percentage of those living in this country (jeesh, “citizens” would be so much easier) know who their “daddy” is; that is ... their heavenly Father.

Dare I further suggest that many who think they do, in fact, never did or have since fallen away?  With Christ's love for all, I ask ... are you aware that numerous well-intending souls who believe they’ve joined His Church, have actually been kidnapped by another gospel?  Saved?  Only God knows.  But when one who isn’t taught of the need for "repentance unto salvation" (2Corinthians 7:10) is told they are a “Christian” by a negligent church leader or false teacher (enticer, philosopher, gnostic, astrologer, Judiazer or mystic) renown for peddling but Gospel shards ... what are the odds?  The apostle Paul warns against such:  "Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind. And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God" (Colossians 2:18,19). This is a serious matter.  Just because many are beguiled, doesn’t mean the beguiler is biblical.

Please hear us dear one.  We believers might not know who our daddies and mommas are.  But we had BETTER know the God of the Bible!  Not the counterfeit so frequently offered up by Christian media and apostate churches.  My friend, it’s imperative we believers KNOW Who Christ is and what He has done for us; who we are in Him and what He has to say about today and the future.  Please review Jesus' warning about professing followers who "... heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not ..." (Matthew 7:21-27).  Frankly, were it not for scripture, especially the "sure word of prophecy" (1Peter 1:19) we might well despair at what is commonly perceived as “Christianity” these days.  Galatian and Colossian heresies still abound and false teachers run amuck.  Apostasy is in bloom!  Oh, the true Church will survive ... but all the rest will be blown away.

We must be vigilant Bereans (Acts 17:11).  Flee from the seducing sirens of deceit!  Bind your mind and life to the Word ... to Christ, the Living Word (1John 1-4).  He is all sufficient and we are complete in Him. "For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power" (Colossians 2:9,10).  "As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving" (Colossians 2:6,7).  May this same Christ Jesus have mercy on us all.
