Day’s End

I give thanks to our glorious Father
Whose lovingkindness endures forever;
Whose power and great might
protects us through the night.

On chariots of love, mercy and grace
You’ve carried me to this place.
You’ve spared me from my way
and delivered me through this day.

Your wisdom beaconed the way
and lighted my path another day.
By Your power I’ve walked it through
and now my Lord — I rest in You.

Now I lay me down to sleep
my soul You will surely keep.
And should I die before I wake
save me, I pray, from the Snake.

My heart seeks You through the night;
my soul harbors in Your might.
And when the sun does appear
I know You’ll still be here.
