God, my Refuge!

I’ve run to You, Father, as I would to the safety of a cave.  You are my Cave of Refuge, a shelter of protection.  Please come quickly to my rescue; deliver me!  O, help me — if only for Your name’s sake.  Lead, guide and free me from the snares of sin, self and Satan.

You alone are my hiding place!
I’ve committed my life into your hands.
Save me, O Lord; God of all truth.

Hurry, O God of my salvation, if You intend this life to continue!  My eyes are swollen with grief and my body is being consumed by the anguish of adversity.  My strength is failing and this heart would betray me.  There is terror on every side and my life is in grave jeopardy.

Desperately I throw myself on You.
You are my God, my only refuge and hope!
Moment by moment, my trust is in You.

Quicken me with a smile and show that You love me.  Let not me or Your holy name be put to shame for I’ve told all of my reliance on You.  You save and are merciful to those who trust in Your love and bless in full view — so the whole world can see Your goodness.

I do trust in You, Lord
and rejoice in your love.

When hard pressed I’ve stupidly said, "God does not hear me!"  Yet, You’ve always responded to my anguish; the cry of my soul.  You’ve always delivered me to a safe place.  You’ve never allowed Your enemies to triumph over me.  In the safety of Your presence You’ve hidden me from evil-doers and lying tongues.  You are my refuge, my strong tower!

Praise be to the God of mercy!
He shows His unfailing love
especially when I’m distressed.

Love Him, you servants of the Lord!  He preserves the faithful.  Be strong and take heart all you who hope in the Lord; put your whole trust in Him.  He will never, ever, ever fail you!   — R. Henry  6/04
