Dear Reader,

Though having written on this subject in the past, we continue to be struck by the suddenness with which things can change.  Time after time, in one life arena after another and often in the face of difficult circumstances: ka-ZAM! ... matters change.  We call them: “and suddenlies.”

It challenges to believe of God’s complicity in ours — and so many other cosmically trivial matters.  Yet, His Word and “fingerprints” defy unbelief.  Certainly, we should NOT be surprised that, on a macro level, the Creator of all things is entirely involved.  “Sudden” events are no surprise to Him; only to those unfamiliar with His sovereignty, promises and “sure word of prophecy.”  The latter of which foretells of horrific “and suddenlies” dead ahead.  Be prepared!

Suddenly! ...

Everything can change in an instant.

"Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming SUDDENLY he find you sleeping." (emphasis added)— Mk 13:36

We live in a “non-linear” world.  Tomorrow will not necessarily be like today, nor next week like this one or next month and year to play out as expected.  Life seems unpredictable; things change and can do so quite suddenly.  Of course, we innately know this, yet, plan and live as though reality applies only to others; that somehow we are exempt.

But God says the future is knowable, reminding: "I foretold the former things long ago, my mouth announced them and I made them known; then suddenly I acted, and they came to pass" (Isa 48:3).  This suggests that happenings, “sudden” to us, might be but lines of a divine script.  Indeed, "the sure word of prophecy" (2Pet 1:19) is a portal to the future.

“Suddenlies”

To fully record the times and ways our heavenly Father has suddenly burst onto the scene in our lives would not only be voluminous, but borderline embarrassing.  The latter, because we surely DO know that we merit absolutely nothing — certainly no special consideration of healing, provision, miracles and the like.  Just having our sins forgiven is sufficient divine consideration for all eternity.  Having so said, “and suddenlies” do punctuate our lives and have profoundly affected its course.  Granted, at times we might simply be ascribing a different name to being led of the Spirit.

For example: we recently had a housing problem when a divine “and SUDDENLY!” dropped us to our knees in amazement and gratitude.  Though happily prepared to live out our lives in the motor home which brought us to Florida, it became evident that it was neither long term climate-suitable, nor legal to do so.  After casting about for an alternative and locating a couple of mobile homes, we were faced with a really difficult timing and logistics issue.  We would have had to sell and vacate the RV in order to proceed; tough in this economy and season.

It briefly prompted us to consider a bridging loan; a common remedy in these circumstances.  However, that idea died a quick death in the face of our 34-year, no-debt policy.  “No!” we said to one-another, “The answer must be of the Spirit.” We simply could not compromise our trust in God for finances.  Though borrowing is commonplace with Christians, scripture warns of its consequences (Prov 22:7) and reminds that believers should avoid seeking "as the gentiles" (Mt 6:30-34).  We must look to and trust God in all things.  With that settled, we let the matter rest and continued our sabbatical.

It wasn’t many days thereafter when a Spirit-tuned Christian who knew of our general situation, asked for details, with the note: “Maybe I can help.”  A quick e-mail exchange led to: “I’ll put a (gift) check in the mail.”  SUDDENLY ... everything changed!  In seven words and a single moment, we were able to buy this place outright.  But wait; there’s more!  As we began dealing with plans to convert one room into an office and the porch into a store room, more money  arrived for those expenses.  Suddenly ... our housing needs were met and we accomplished in weeks, what might have taken a year.  Do you doubt God was involved; that it was the Spirit Who nudged His “financial agent” to so generously move on our behalf??

How about your own situation; do you know for certain that God is involved, and are you convinced He is not a respecter of persons??  You might need a job; the resolution of a knotty relational issue; a healing or income.  Dear friend, be encouraged.  Here’s what Jesus says: "... your Father knows that you need them ... seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.  "Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom." (Lk 12:30-32).  Just trust Him will ALL your heart.

Beyond Belly Buttons

The two of us are every bit as prone to get wrapped up in our own little world of hurts, desires, comforts and hangnails (too many letter “I”s in our thinking and conversation).  Were it not for God’s Word and indwelling Spirit, we likely would be entirely self-absorbed, stressed and in debt.  Ongoing prayer and Bible study, plus badgering the Spirit for help, salvages a bit of our vision for the larger view.  (No newspapers, TV, or hand-held widgets for texting, titillating tweeting or tooting also helps).

Let’s now focus on matters vastly more crucial than even housing. But, first a word regarding the so-called “news” media.  In our opinion, this nation no longer has a trustworthy one and God’s people are far better served by time in the Bible.  To milk the point: I recently picked up a (free) big city paper and scanned page one.  The catastrophe-sized headline blared: NFL’s Cash Clash! and the prized upper right location dealt with a politician’s “indiscretions.”  From there on down — NO?NEWS.  Not a single reference to vital issues and/or manifold matters so rapidly prepping the way for our Lord’s soon return. For the END!  Flipping through its innards added little redeeming value, (unless a full inch-thick sheave of slick ads are one’s thing).  Pathetic! Worse than worthless; a time thief that also robs of crucial news.

Suddenlies in process

Following is some news either absent from or down-played in the media, with commentary based on scripture, history and predictive analysis.

The Great Recession: is very much alive and still devouring.  In fact, it’s tracking the Market pattern of the early ‘30s which crashed five times before crushing the global economy for a decade.  Beware!

The United States: is still vulnerable to economic collapse.  i.e. One well-placed terrorist attack can put its moribund economy in the hopper and make today’s 17.2% (true) unemployment rate look comparatively good.  Since America is broke and with other nations increasingly reluctant to continue lending 80% of the money needed to keep its lights on, the Federal Reserve had only two options: raise interest rates to attract investors — or crank up the magical money presses.  Because the 1st risks interest payment default on the nation’s debt, they chose the 2nd path to fiscal oblivion and is minting money quick’ern a lizard’s tongue (in spite of the dollar’s 30% plunge in a decade; most of that in just 2 years).  NEWS FLASH: history teaches that no nation, having taken this road, has ever returned.  It is an irresponsible act of economic desperation to keep the U.S.’s doors open, at the expense of trashing the dollar and becoming even more isolated.  With truth now  politically incorrect and teaching history given the boot, officials are free to pursue their maniacal fantasy of spending the country’s way back to prosperity.  How patently absurd!  However, it might be good for the wheelbarrow business.  They could become more useful than wallets for transporting food-shopping dollars.

Concurrently, America’s enemies are openly ganging up on the dollar to replace it as the standard for global trade and prime reserve currency.  Mark it down: that will happen and when it does, this nation will even more rapidly careen toward poverty and global irrelevancy.  Suddenly!

England is desperate, Germany is preparing for WW-III, the Vatican is sporting scarlet and the Holy Roman Empire is resurrecting.  Though long in planning, such might seem sudden ... but only to the unprepared.

A-hh ... the good news.  When these dots are connected, the message says: “Mankind is incapable of self governance and divine help is on the way.”  It WILL arrive in the twinkling of an eye.  Flashing across the sky for all to see, will be our eternal Governor, Savior, Redeemer and Lord.  King Jesus will soon return ... SUDDENLY!
