Diane was so pleased to receive the gift of a bonsai plant with instructions explaining that to remain a cute dwarf required working on its roots. Not a problem, but as time went by, it seemed out of place.  It was overshadowed by lush plants requiring just sunlight and an occasional splash of water to flourish.  Bye-bye bonsai!

There’s a bonsai-like movement growing in churchdom; one fixated on its “roots” — the Hebrew Roots Movement.  Followers are led away from total dependence on God’s Word, into “sacred” writings, tradition, mysticism, legalism and bondage.  Scripture is compromised and overshadowed by the word of man.  But God’s call to His church is for fruit, not roots.  That is, fruit born of Son-light, the Spirit and watering of God’s Word ... the Word alone!
