Of Rocks and Idols

During occasional visits to art galleries, I’m drawn to the sculptures.  Be they wood, glass, stone or bronze, as I run my fingers over their surfaces and my hands trace their sensuous contours, something in my soul gets triggered and I’m captivated.  Even the abstract evoke a sense of awe as I marvel at the mind, talent and skill behind each.

In spite of exquisite craftsmanship and compelling beauty, I’m reminded ... they are still but wood, glass, stone and bronze.  They have no life or inherent value.  God forbid any such thing (person or idea) become an idol.
