The Light has come

The Bible has much to say about light — defining day from night to illuminating the New Jerusalem (Gen1:3; Rev 21:23,24; 22:5).  However, its most precious references are reserved for Jesus, “the Light of the world” (Jn 8:12,9:5).

With dim regard for this season’s merchandising lights and due respect for the ‘Feast of Lights’, Jesus is the Light, the brightness of God’s glory (Heb 1:3).  This soon-coming King has called believers to also be ‘lights’ in the world until He returns (Mt 5:14).  Let us therefore shine brightly, that our lives illumine the darkness, being good stewards of the waning day.
