Gutting of a Nation

Is America deliberately being destroyed?

Most would rather not believe that America is intentionally being savaged by it's own government ... surely not us.  We want to think the best of our leaders.  Yet, in light of a mountain of questionable activity and wretched results, one finds charitable views increasingly frustrated by reality.  Explanations founded on rational thought, as to why the nation is in so much trouble, are confounded; floundering on evidential shoals of top to bottom and coast to coast destruction at the hand of its government.  Certainly, no fair-minded person would conclude that this is intentional were it based on a singular bad policy, decision or outcome ... or even a few.  However, it’s not quite as easy to comfort our minds in the face of one “bad” piled on top on another “bad” that is stacked on a previous “bad” which was created to cover for an earlier “bad,” each peddled to the public as something good ... and so on, ad nauseam.

America is now facing a ruinous, government-created climate that cannot readily be explained by previous conditions, bad circumstances, bad decisions ... or even incompetence.  Nor can a combination of all three seemingly account for the shambles the nation now finds itself in.  This confronts a thinking person with an abhorrent question:

Has today’s national devastation been intentionally wrought?

Before going on, we acknowledge that this kind of report is neither easy to read nor to write.  Adding to a Christian's difficulty is the subject's competition with weightier and more edifying matters that should generally occupy the minds of God's own.  However, spiritually speaking, although born-agains are not OF this world, we are still IN it (Jn 18:36).  Therefore, it behooves to be aware and generally informed of what's going on around us, especially as pertains to the Church.  We thus justify this investigation as a navigational aid and assist to a believer's walk and prayer life.  Now then, the answer to that question:

Yes!  The national destruction most certainly is DELIBERATE.

Let’s be clear about this assertion.  It is based on the conduct of all three branches of government, the Federal Reserve System, leader rhetoric ... and the results produced by all their laws, findings, orders and policies.  Since all were deliberate (however misguided or unwise) their out-workings are rightly characterized as being deliberate.  Indeed, the nation is being gutted and cannibalized by its government.  To be sure, this is not an appraisal of the motivations or hearts of persons involved.  However, our Lord does make such assessments: “Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but the corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit ... Therefore by their fruits ye shall know them” (Mt 7:17,20).

Although the nation’s most urgent problem is economic, the devastation is broad-based, having roots a century deep. Today’s issues had been slowly growing until 2006 and 2008 when Congress, then the White-house, fell firmly into the grip of today's Marxist/Socialist leaders (Progressive).  THEN, as though on steroids, problems mushroomed because of government actions detrimental to national well being.  The composite of policies, orders, laws, taxes and regulations imposed on this nation since 2006, and more so since 2009 (many tyrannically) are at odds either with its foundational ethic, the U.S. Constitution, traditional western morality, rule of law, intellectual honesty and sound practices; some at odds with common sense.

“Disastrous” best describes the U.S. foreign policy.  The same is true domestically pertaining to monetary policy, health care, energy, employment, manufacturing, education, banking, housing, border security, immigration, fiscal conduct, etc.. Indeed, one must stretch credulity beyond reason to avoid disconcerting conclusions, justifiably making one wonder if America’s enemies could create so much havoc in such a short time.  Regarding employment, one nationally syndicated and respected pundit puts it this way: “Through taxation and regulation, the Democrat candidate for President is killing American jobs.  The effort is so pronounced, so pervasive and so relentless, that it is time to call it DELIBERATE.”¹ Yet others are even more outspoken and have arrived at much the same conclusion.

America is being immolated by the fires of perverse governmental ambition.

Though in acute economic peril, the nation is also being gutted societally, emotionally, morally and spiritually.  Largely at the hand of its government, even
America's history is being rewritten by detractors.  For "leaders" in all three branches to promote, as they do, values at odds with the Republic's Judeo-Christain heritage, bespeaks treachery.  For them to encourage mankind's basest nature of lawlessness, immorality, homosexuality, sloth, greed, envy, racial hatred ... and all the other evils promulgated from Washington's highest offices and agencies, is not only an affront to God, an insult to citizens, but a crime against humanity.  These are the factors destroying a once great nation.  However, citizens bear a substantial responsibility.  Many have taken the vote-buying bait of self-serving politicians, to become indolent "entitlement" junkies.  Though able to work, they are now State dependents.  

Since 2008, we've had a persistent suspicion that this enemy seizure of federal power is a divine coup to position America for God’s end game.  After all, He is sovereign, and the Lord’s return is rapidly approaching.  Scripture reminds: "The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will" (Prov 21:1).  Further, in keeping with Scripture's call to a separated life, it is our view that God's own are biblically advised not to be involved with the affairs of State at a leadership or policy making level.  For that matter, even to be guilt-induced into the voting process.  Not that either are sinful in themselves, but more of a compromise-tempting distraction from the Church's calling.  By ALL means, submitting to those in authority is biblical because the principle of government derives from God (Rom 13:1).  However, beyond a "job" level, there's thin scriptural basis for involvement, though ample counsel to the contrary.  Biblically, it's neither good nor bad.

As elections ramp up, so do efforts to draw believers aside, and into political affairs.  However, we are not told to be worldly activists, but to come out of same, into a priesthood of believers (1Pet 2:9) to "live Christ" (Gal 2:20) to be "salt" and "light" in today's darkness (Mt 5:13-16; 2Cor 4:6).  Nor are we called to be social reformers or to "take America for Christ." In so doing one might find themselves at odds with God's plans for this nation.  The believer's call to "activism" includes worship of God, gospel proclamation, evangelism, prayer for authorities, plus facilitating Christ being formed in us.  We are to disengage (come out) from the world's fallen systems and by faith, live separated lives as His witnesses.
